HIV infection and acute glomerulonephritis.

چکیده
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is known to be associated with various types of glomerulonephritis. Human immunodeficiency HIV – associated kidney diseases have been classified into 3 different groups: HIVassociated nephropathy (HIVAN), also known as HIV-associated focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis (HIV-FSGS), hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HIV-HUS), and HIV-associated immune complex renal diseases. Previously thought to be rare, these forms of glomerulonephritis have become more frequent, and it is important that the medical community learns more about its diagnosis and treatment.

Crescentic IgA nephropathy and acute renal failure in an HIV-positive patient with enteric salmonella infection.
The association of HIV with renal disease has been well documented since the early days of the epidemic [1]. Heavy proteinuria and rapid progression to renal failure are described as clinical characteristics in most cases arising in HIV-infected patients. On renal biopsy many of these patients have been shown to have a distinctive combination of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), cystic...
متن کاملImmune complex renal disease and human immunodeficiency virus infection.
Immune complex glomerulonephritis is a common diagnosis in renal biopsy series of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients. There are a variety of glomerulonephritides associated with HIV infection, including IgA nephropathy, membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, membranous nephropathy, lupus-like glomerulonephritis, immunotactoid glomerulopathy, and fibrillary glomerulonephriti...

Human immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV)/ acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a multisystemic disease which has become a global pandemic1. With prolonged survival and aging of the HIVinfected population in the era of antiretroviral therapy, a growing number of diseases affecting different organ systems in the general population are becoming manifest in these patients2, as is the c...
متن کاملVisceral leishmaniasis due to Leishmania infantumwith renal involvement in HIV-infected patients
BACKGROUND We describe histological, clinical findings and outcomes of renal involvement during Leishmania infantum infection in four HIV-infected patients in South France and North Italy hospital settings. CASES PRESENTATION Four HIV-infected Caucasian patients (age 24-49) performed renal biopsy during episodes of visceral leishmaniasis. They presented severe immunosuppression, frequent rela...
متن کاملRapidly progressive glomerulonephritis associated with nontuberculous mycobacteria.
A 72-year-old woman with a past medical history of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) pulmonary disease was admitted because of hemoptysis and acute renal failure. A chest X-ray showed interstitial infiltration over bilateral lung fields. Kidney biopsy showed immune complex-mediated acute diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis with 48% crescents and glomerular endocapillary hypercellularity wi...
